Can You Buy Weed in Torrance?

Can You Buy Weed in Torrance?

No. Torrance bans cannabis stores in its city code, so there is no licensed dispensary inside the city.

Adults 21 and older can have cannabis at home in Torrance. To shop in a store, they go to a nearby city that allows licensed stores.

Why are there no dispensaries in Torrance?

Torrance Municipal Code section 413.1.020 states that “Dispensaries of medicinal and adult-use cannabis are expressly prohibited in the City.” The same section bans all commercial cannabis activity in Torrance.

California lets each city decide. The state’s Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) says cities and counties may have stricter cannabis laws than the state.

That leaves about 138,000 residents, per the US Census Bureau’s 2025 estimate, with no cannabis store in their own city.

Is it legal to have weed in Torrance?

Yes, for adults 21 and older. Section 413.1.030 of Torrance’s own code lets adults have up to 28.5 grams of cannabis and up to 8 grams of concentrate.

Those are the same limits as state law. Our post on California’s Prop 64 rules covers the rest of what adults can and cannot do.

You can use it on private property. State law bans smoking or eating cannabis in public places, and Torrance’s code points to that same rule, Health and Safety Code section 11362.3.

If you rent, read your rental agreement first, the DCC says. A landlord can ban cannabis on the property.

Do other South Bay cities ban dispensaries?

Some do. Lomita, which borders Torrance, bans commercial cannabis activity in every zone of the city, under section 11-1.83.02 of its code.

Lomita’s code puts it plainly: “Commercial cannabis activity, whether or not for profit, is prohibited in all zones, specific plan areas, and overlay zones of the city.”

Before you drive to shop in a city nearby, look up its rules on the city’s own website. The DCC gives the same advice.

Where can Torrance residents buy weed?

At a licensed store in a nearby city. Harbor City is a Los Angeles neighborhood, and the City of Los Angeles allows licensed cannabis stores.

Our Harbor City store is at 1227 W 253rd St, under a white arch with a script sign over the door. It opens at 6 am and closes at 10 pm, seven days a week.

Licensed stores must show their state license in the window, the DCC says, and you can scan its QR code to check it. Ours is C10-0000416-LIC.

Our page for the cannabis dispensary in Harbor City has the address, hours and today’s menu.

What should you bring on your first visit?

A valid government issued photo ID that shows you are 21 or older. A driver’s license, a state ID or a passport all work.

We sign you up at the door on your first visit, so come in before 9:45 pm to finish it.

On the drive home, put your purchase in the trunk or leave it sealed. The DCC says an open container of cannabis in a car is against the law.
