Counter 06

Cannabis concentrates.

The strongest thing on our shelf.

Concentrates take what is in the flower and leave most of the plant behind. They are the strongest products we carry, and they are not where anybody should start.

The textures

Shatter, wax, badder, sauce, rosin.

The names are about texture, not strength.

Almost every name on this counter describes what the extract feels like rather than how strong it is.

Shatter is glassy and brittle and snaps. Wax sits somewhere between peanut butter and honey and scoops easily. Budder and badder are whipped softer than wax, and carry more of the flavour with them.

Sauce and diamonds are two things in one jar: a high terpene liquid with THCa crystal sitting in it. Rosin is the odd one out, made with heat and pressure and no solvent at all, which is why people who care about that buy it specifically.

All of it is much stronger than flower. Concentrates commonly sit above 70 percent where flower sits between roughly 15 and 30, so a piece about the size of a grain of rice is a real starting amount. Everything on our shelf is tested for potency, residual solvents and contaminants before it gets there.

Gear

What you use with what.

The texture usually decides the method. If you are not sure what your setup takes, bring it in and ask.

First time

Three rules, and the first one matters most.

01

Start smaller than you think

About the size of a grain of rice. Concentrates are several times stronger than flower and they land fast.

02

Match the texture to your gear

Shatter and sauce want a rig. Wax and badder are happier in a pen or a collector. Ask if you are unsure.

03

Buy fresh, buy small

Live resin and rosin do not improve with age. A small jar you finish beats a big one that sits.

A grain of rice is a starting dab. Genuinely.

This is the one counter where the standard advice is not being polite. Flower usually sits between 15 and 30 percent THC and concentrates commonly sit above 70, so the same habits do not carry across. Every jar on our shelf is tested for potency and for residual solvents, and both numbers follow the batch.
Before you buy

Questions about concentrates.

Anything about a specific product is answered fastest by the store that has it on its shelf.

What is the difference between shatter, wax and badder?

Texture. Shatter is glassy and brittle, wax scoops like thick honey, and badder is whipped softer than both. Strength depends on the extract, not the texture.

What is rosin?

A concentrate pressed with heat and pressure and no solvent at all. People who want a solventless option buy it specifically.

How much stronger are concentrates than flower?

Considerably. Flower usually sits between about 15 and 30 percent THC and concentrates commonly sit above 70.

Do I need a dab rig?

Not necessarily. A concentrate pen or a nectar collector handles softer textures, and a little rosin can go into a joint with no gear at all.

Are your concentrates tested?

Yes. Every jar is tested for potency, residual solvents and contaminants by a state certified California lab.
