Can Tourists Buy Weed in Los Angeles?

Yes. California’s rules for cannabis stores are about your age and your ID, and a valid passport from any country counts as ID.

At our stores, any adult 21 or older with a valid ID can shop, whether you live in Los Angeles or flew in yesterday.

What ID do tourists need to buy weed?

California’s retail rules accept three kinds of ID. You can find them in Title 4 of the California Code of Regulations, section 15404.

• A government ID with your name, date of birth, height, gender and photo, like a driver’s license from your home state.
• A valid military ID with your name, date of birth and photo.
• A valid passport from the United States or from any other country.

How much weed can a tourist buy in one day?

The same amount as anyone else. Section 15409 lets one adult buy up to 28.5 grams of flower and up to 8 grams of concentrate in a day.

The concentrate limit counts the oil inside vape carts and pens too. If you are flying home or leaving California, buy only what you will use on this trip.

Where can you use weed on your trip?

On private property, with the owner’s permission. The state’s Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) says you cannot use it in public places like restaurants or bars.

You also cannot smoke it anywhere tobacco smoking is banned. Smoking within 1,000 feet of a school, day care center or youth center while kids are there is against the law too.

Most hotels do not allow guests to use cannabis in their rooms, the DCC says. Ask the front desk about the policy before you check in.

In a vacation rental, check the rules with the owner. Federal land, like a national park, is off limits for cannabis.

Can you drive with weed in the car?

Yes, if it is sealed. The DCC says an open container of cannabis is illegal while you drive or ride in a car. Put it in a sealed package or in the trunk.

Using cannabis while you drive is illegal too, under Health and Safety Code section 11362.3.

Can you take weed home on the plane?

No. Cannabis is illegal under federal law, the DCC notes, so you cannot take it across state lines.

TSA says its screening looks for security threats. If officers find an illegal substance during screening, TSA refers it to a law enforcement officer.

Plan to finish what you buy before your flight, or leave it behind.

What is it like to shop at our Beverly store?

Our Beverly store is at 8430 Beverly Blvd in Beverly Grove, a few blocks from the Beverly Center. It is easy to reach off La Cienega and open 9 am to 10 pm every day.

Beverly Grove lies between Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and the Fairfax District. Street parking on Beverly Boulevard is metered, and there are paid lots and garages on the blocks around us.

On your first visit, we sign you up at the door, so come in before 9:45 pm to finish it. After that, you shop at your own pace, and you can pay with cash or debit.
